Sex Selection of Your Baby

Some people, desperate and anxious to pick the sex of their baby, will go to great extremes to guarantee that they bring home the baby of the sex of their choice.  Gender selection can be very controversial, especially when medical intervention is used to pick the sex of your baby.  These medical procedures have significant controversy as to the ethics of choosing one sex over the other.

There are natural methods that can be used to pick the sex of your child.  These natural methods are great because they do not violate any code of ethics and are perfectly safe to use.  They aren’t expensive and out of reach (like the medical procedures are for most people), and they will drastically increase your chances of conceiving the baby of your choice—boy or girl.

Choosing Your Baby’s Gender before Conception

It is important to note that no method is 100% accurate.  However, by applying several techniques before conception, you can hugely increase your probability of having a boy or girl.  Your ultimate goal is to have a healthy, happy baby regardless of its gender.  But, if you have a preference in the sex of your baby, it is possible to try and pick the gender.

Characteristics of Sperm

Sperm can be divided into two categories:  sperm that carries the Y chromosome (that will make boys), and sperm that carries the X chromosome (that will make girls).  Each one is different.  X-bearing sperm are larger, have a longer lifespan, are slower moving, and do well in acidic environments.  Y-bearing sperm are smaller, quicker, more fragile, and do well in alkalai environments.

The Influence of These Characteristics on Conception

Having an understanding of the differences between x-bearing and y-bearing sperm will help you prepare for the natural methods you will use to conceive a boy or girl.

Timing is essential to conceiving a boy.  Y-bearing sperm do not live long, so you have a short window of opportunity to try for a boy.  It is crucial to time intercourse as close to ovulation as possible, usually within twelve hours.  It is the opposite if you choose to conceive a girl.  X-bearing sperm live longer and are more durable, so it is best to have intercourse a few days before ovulation if you want a baby girl, giving the y-bearing sperm time to die out.
